Find out more about the mission.

In March, 2015, a team led by Dr. Jaber and Dr. Bandow traveled to Jordan on behalf of the Vaseline® Healing Project, to provide free dermatological examinations and treatment to over a thousand Syrian refugees living throughout the country.

Partnering with Salaam Cultural Museum to carry out the mission, the doctors worked for several days in Zaatari refugee camp – one of the largest refugee camps in the world – along with other refugee sites in the country.

The dermatologists encountered skin conditions related to being exposed to arid and dry conditions, such as cracked feet, eczema and burns. In addition, the dermatologists were able to diagnose and treat several cases of leishmaniasis, a debilitating and potentially fatal disease transmitted by the bite of the sand fly.
